Jaw Joint and Bite Problems
Occlusal therapy may be suggested when there are problems with bite or jaw joints, or both. The jaw joint consists of a ball that fits snugly into its socket.
Jaw joint can move in three dimensions: side-to-side, front to back, and up and down. It is this flexibility that allows us to move our lower jaw so freely.
Differences in erratic tooth positioning, tooth decay, tooth looseness and a number of other factors can cause occlusion to become less than ideal and cause problems with the temporomandibular joint (TMJ) and your bite. Occlusal therapy can be used to correct these problems.
